Yalda Silver Pendant

Shabe Yalda/ Winter Solstice translates to the rebirth of the sun. An evening of festivities that begins when the sun sets on the last day of fall. This ancient Persian celebration signifies the longest night of the year, it was celebrated for the triumph of light over darkness.

I designed this coin pendant to celebrate the Yalda tradition. It features the pomegranate, which is one of Iran’s most treasured fruits. This rich vibrant fruit is eaten on special celebratory occasions. The words Shabe Yalda are written on the reverse side of the coin in Farsi.
